Name(s): New York State Thruway
History:

Assigned along much of its present alignment in 1956. The lone section of I-90 not maintained by the New York State Thruway Authority, a roughly 20 mile stretch in Albany and Rensselaer Counties, was completed in the early 1970s.

Tolling on the New York Thruway switched to cashless on November 14, 2020.

Recommendation:

Realigning I-90 in the Albany area to the Thruway mainline between Exits 21A (Thruway Berkshire Section) and 24 (I-87 north/I-90 east) and the Berskshire section between the mainline and where I-90 currently joins the Berkshire section in Schodack. The current I-90 alignment through Albany would be renumbered as either I-x87 or as part of an eastern extension of the I-88 designation.
