* NY 79's western terminus was originally located at what is now NY 96 in Trumansburg. In 1940, the western end would be moved to Perry City where it would remain until the early 1960s when NY 79 was moved to its present alignment.
* In September 2023, a mile long section of NY 79 in Chenango Forks was realigned to NY 12 and a newly built road when a new bridge over the Chenango River was opened to traffic. The new bridge replaced an older structure located about a half mile downstream that was built in 1938. |
