NY 39 originally extended west to NY 5 in Dunkirk via US 20 and Chautauqua CR 81. East of Pike, NY 39 originally followed present day NY 436 to Dansville, NY 63 to Wayland, NY 21 to Naples, and NY 245 to Geneva. In 1939, NY 39 and NY 245 swapped alignments putting NY 39 on its present course and NY 245 aligned from Pike to Geneva. |
