Name(s): Troy-Schenectady Rd., 19th St., Ferry St., Congress St., River St., Brunswick Rd., Main St.
History:

NY 2 was originally assigned to the present day NY 96 alignment in the Finger Lakes region of western New York. The two routes swapped alignments in 1942 to enable New York's designation to match that of Massachusetts.

NY 2 was extended west to Latham when NY 7 was relocated to the north in 1981.

Recommendation:

Reassigning NY 2 as NY 402 to eliminate duplication with US 2 in northern New York. The new number would serve as a partial match to MA 2.
