The original alignment of NY 306 began at the New Jersey line and followed Saddle River Rd. (Rockland CR 75) to NY 306's current southern terminus at NY 59. The route also extended north to US 9W/US 202 in Tompkins Cove via Call Hollow Rd., Cedar Flats Rd., and Mott Farm Rd. The northern extension was decommissioned in the 1940's when the Palisades Interstate Parkway was built.
