NY 495 was the designation for much of the Long Island Expressway from 1962 until 1983, when the LIE was given the I-495 designation. In 1989, NY 495 resurfaced as it replaced the I-495 designation that had been assigned to the Lincoln Tunnel.
Recommendation:

Extending the NY 495 designation east along 34th St. to the western terminus of I-495 near the Queens-Midtown Tunnel.
