NY 421's original alignment continued straight past Paradise Point to Warren Point. In the mid 1960s, NY 421 was realigned and extended west to Horseshoe Lake ending at the Adirondack Railroad grade crossing. In 1993, the western terminus was moved to where the pavement ends near the southwestern corner of Horseshoe Lake.
Recommendation:

Decommissioning NY 421. The road surface has become very deteriorated and traffic counts are among the lowest in the state.
