NY 385 was originally assigned to present day NY 237 between then-US 104 and NY 18 in eastern Orleans County. The designation moved to Greene County in 1932 and was originally assigned to present day US 9W between Catskill and Coxsackie. A year later, NY 385 and US 9W swapped alignments as it moved to its current routing.
