NY 120A was originally assigned to what is now Westchester CR 54. It was partially replaced by NY 120B from 1932-39. In 1939, NY 120A shifted to its current alignment.

Much of present day NY 120A crosses into Greenwich, CT. However, the road is NYSDOT maintained and is listed in NYSDOT's logs.
