NY 53's original alignment followed the current alignment from Kanona to Prattsburgh. North of Prattsburgh, NY 53 followed Steuben CRs 7 and 122, and Yates CRs 32, 35, and 31 to NY 364 in Potter, then north on present day NY 247 to US 20/NY 5 east of Canandaigua. Meanwhile, NY 247 followed present day NY 53 from Prattsburgh to Naples. The two designations swapped alignments north of Prattsburgh in the early 1940s. |
