History: |
The original alignment of NY 245 followed present day NY 39 from Pike in Wyoming County to near Leicester in Livingston County (Present day US 20A). In 1939, the alignments of NY 39 and NY 245 would be swapped to more closely follow their current alignments east of Pike. NY 245 would follow present day NY 436 east to Dansville, then overlaps with NY 63 south to Wayland and NY 21 north to Naples where NY 245's southern terminus is located today (A 1954 Sunoco map shows NY 245 duplexed with NY 408 north from Nunda to the former NY 258 western alignment, then co-signed the length of NY 258 to Groveland before turning south onto NY 63).
In the late 1960s and early 1970s, NY 245 underwent a series of changes. In 1968, NY 245 was realigned onto the newly built Genesee Expressway (Present day I-390) between Dansville and Wayland. Three years later, the NY 245 designation south and west of Naples was removed altogether. |
