Western Terminus: NY 97, Callicoon
Eastern Terminus: NY 17, Monticello
Length: 21.90 miles (35.26 km)
Orientation: East-West
Counties: Sullivan
Cities: None
Villages: Monticello
Towns: Delaware, Cochecton, Bethel, Thompson
Name(s): None
History:

Previously extended west to Hancock via an overlap with NY 97. The overlap was eliminated in the mid 1960s.
Recommendation:

With NYSDOT's plans to truncate NY 17 to the north-south section south of Harriman following the designation of I-86 in the area, we recommend renumbering NY 17B as NY 452 (also recommended redesignation of NY 52A) from Callicoon to Falls Mills, and as NY 371 east of Fosterdale. The NY 371 designation would serve as a continuation of PA 371 which meets the New York state line in Cochecton. The existing NY 371 designation in Steuben County would be given a new number.

State map showing NY 17B's former overlap with
NY 97 west to Hancock.
